Ahoy, Mateys! Sneak Peek Inside Magic Kingdom’s New Beak and Barrel Tavern!
Are you a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride? Well, get ready to set sail for a brand-new adventure! Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is about to unleash its latest treasure: the Beak and Barrel Tavern, opening August 29th! I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek, and let me tell you, it’s a must-see for any pirate enthusiast.
Stepping into a Pirate’s Paradise
Imagine stepping right off the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and into a real-life tavern. That’s exactly what it feels like inside the Beak and Barrel. Every nook and cranny is packed with details that’ll make you feel like you’re part of the crew. It’s like the Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure cruise ship, but with a distinctly piratey twist.
Hidden Treasures and Pirate Lore
One of the coolest things about this place? The Easter eggs! Fans of both the ride and the movies will find tons of hidden references and even actual props from the films. Keep an eye out for Captain Jack Sparrow – rumor has it he owes the tavern owner a bit of gold!
Meet the Crew (and a Chatty Parrot!)
Speaking of the owner, she’s Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, a pirate with impeccable taste. While she’s away, her first mate, Rummy the parrot, is running the show. Rummy’s an Audio-Animatronic, just like the Barker Bird from the original Pirates ride, and he’s full of pirate tales. He even interacts with a sleepy black cat named Kat, who’s perched above the door – a total scene-stealer!
The Tavern’s Many Charms
The tavern itself is divided into several themed areas, each with its own story to tell. There’s the Cursed Bar, shaped like a skull with a magical bottle of rum inside (courtesy of Tia Dalma herself). Then there’s The Mess, once a mess hall for Spanish soldiers, now decked out with pirate treasures like a ship’s bell and an anchor chandelier. And don’t forget the Captains’ Quarters, complete with cozy booths, artwork, and even a fireplace with tiny ships in bottles! There are also rumors of ship battles happening right there in the fireplace!
A Feast for the Senses
Of course, a tavern wouldn’t be complete without some grub and grog. The Beak and Barrel’s menu is inspired by the spice trade and features international flavors with a piratey flair. I tried the Cursed Treasure (a non-alcoholic coconut milk and cookie concoction), the Island Provisions (an appetizer platter with delicious dips), and the Treasure Trove (a dessert plank with cake, a chocolate cannonball, and caramel popcorn). Everything was tasty, but what really blew me away were the ice-cold cups! Seriously, I’ve never experienced such refreshing chill – it was pure magic!
Fun for the Whole Crew (Big and Small!)
Even though the Beak and Barrel looks like a rough-and-tumble pirate hangout, it’s designed for families of all ages. It’s a place where everyone can immerse themselves in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean, whether you’re a seasoned swashbuckler or a young buccaneer-in-training.
Planning Your Visit
The Beak and Barrel is bound to be popular, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Guests are limited to 45 minutes inside, which hopefully means everyone will get a chance to experience the magic.
Is the Beak and Barrel Worth the Treasure?
Absolutely! This tavern is more than just a place to grab a bite; it’s an immersive experience that brings the world of Pirates of the Caribbean to life. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to visit again and again, discovering new details and stories with each adventure.
So, what are you waiting for? Get ready to hoist the Jolly Roger and set sail for the Beak and Barrel Tavern – a treasure you won’t want to miss! What are you most excited to see at the Beak and Barrel? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
